CitizenShipper Transporter Standards & Acknowledgment

Overview 

CitizenShipper connects pet owners with independent transporters. Because pets are live 
animals requiring care and attention, we set marketplace standards intended to promote 
safe, humane, and professional transport. 

These standards reflect expected practices across the platform. They are designed to 
support animal welfare, customer trust, and transporter success. 

Independent Contractor Status  

Transporters using the CitizenShipper platform: 

• Operate as independent contractors  
• Retain full control over how they perform their services  
• Are solely responsible for transport execution and animal care  
• Enter into agreements directly with customers  

CitizenShipper does not direct or control how transport services are performed. 

Nature of These Standards 

These standards: 

• Describe expected practices and marketplace guidelines  
• Are not exhaustive and do not cover every scenario  
• Do not replace applicable laws or transporter obligations  
• Are enforced at CitizenShipper’s discretion as part of platform governance  

Core Expectations 

1. Vehicle & Transport Environment 

Transporters are expected to: 

• Operate vehicles in safe working condition  
• Maintain reasonable temperature and ventilation conditions appropriate for animal 
safety  
• Ensure animals are transported in a secure and stable manner  
• Maintain a clean transport environment  

2. Animal Care 

Transporters are expected to: 

• Follow agreed-upon care instructions from the pet owner where reasonable  
• Provide appropriate access to water and breaks during transport  
• Monitor animals for visible signs of distress or illness  
• Take reasonable precautions during handling, loading, and stops  

3. Legal & Regulatory Compliance 

Transporters are responsible for: 

• Complying with all applicable federal, state, and local laws  
• Ensuring required documentation is present when legally required  
• Accepting only transports they are properly equipped and permitted to perform  

4. Communication & Reliability 

Transporters are expected to: 

• Communicate clearly regarding timing and expectations  
• Provide updates consistent with what was agreed with the customer  
• Notify customers of material delays or issues in a timely manner  

5. Professional Conduct 

Transporters are expected to: 

• Conduct transactions transparently  
• Maintain professional and respectful communication  
• Complete transports as agreed and resolve disputes through appropriate channels  

Platform Policies 

Transporters must comply with platform rules, including: 

• No unauthorized subcontracting or brokering  
• Disclosure of individuals involved in performing services  
• Compliance with account and safety policies  

Enforcement 

CitizenShipper may review activity on the platform and take action, at its sole discretion, 
including: 

• Warnings  
• Temporary or permanent account restrictions  
• Removal from the platform  

Acknowledgment 

By proceeding, you acknowledge that:
 
• You have read and understand these standards  
• You operate as an independent contractor  
• You are responsible for complying with applicable laws and your agreements with 
customers  
• You understand that failure to meet marketplace expectations may impact your 
ability to use the platform
